Its time to start working in the garden and I cannot help but think about how blessed I am.
In 2013, while working in my organic vegetable garden, my hip locked. I could not get up. It was one of the most painful experiences I have ever had. It was more painful than childbirth! Sorry gentlemen, just use your imagination. I rolled on the ground desperately trying to rotate my hip back into place. I knew I needed to see a doctor.
To my surprise the doctor diagnosed arthritis. "You've got the hips of an 80 year old lady". How could this be. Prior to the episode in the garden, I had not had any symptoms. But there I was with "end stage arthritis". He said there was nothing he could do because it wasn't bad enough for surgery. "Come back in three years".
The pain wouldn't allow me to wait three years. I took matters into my own hands. Alternative therapy had been working for my husband. His prostate cancer hadn't spread. Maybe I could do something similar.
I searched the internet, went to medical libraries and public libraries. I read books, magazines and attended talks on alternative therapy. I discovered a world of nutrition, supplements and exercise. I also met plenty of 80 years and older women who didn't have arthritic hips. Through my personal research and my new found friends, I have been able to almost completely reverse my arthritic condition.
